Dr. Domingo C. Nunez joined our full-time faculty after long and distinguished service at Lenox Hill Hospital (1980–2007). Dr. Nunez specializes in general surgery and minimally invasive abdominal surgery. After graduating from Columbia College and the College of Physicians & Surgeons of Columbia University, he completed his internship and residency at Lenox Hill Hospital. Following this, he completed a fellowship in Endoscopy in the Department of Surgery at the University of Toronto. He is certified by the American Board of Surgery and is a Fellow of the American College of Surgeons and the Society for Surgery of the Alimentary Tract. He is also a member of the Society of American Gastrointestinal Endoscopic Surgeons (SAGES).

Dr. Nunez has been appointed Site Director for the Department of Surgery at Mount Sinai St. Luke’s Hospital. In this role, he is responsible for much of the daily administration of surgical issues at the Mount Sinai St. Luke’s site. He is also the Surgical Director of the Latin American Initiative. In addition to his busy clinical practice, Dr. Nunez has been involved for many years in teaching surgical residents and students.
