Dr. Ahn received a Bachelor of Arts degree from New York University, where she was a New York University Presidential Honors Scholar and a Sokol Chemistry Scholar. She went on to receive her medical degree from the State University of New York Downstate College of Medicine.
She completed her residency in general surgery at Stony Brook University Medical Center, where she was named Senior Resident of the Year in 2011 and was the recipient of the Certificate of Appreciation from the Division of Nursing in 2014.
Her fellowship was completed at the Dubin Breast Center at the Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai. Dr. Ahn’s research interests include the management of both benign and malignant diseases of the breast. While she was completing her fellowship at Dubin Breast Center, Dr. Ahn was part of a project that helped to improve patient education and awareness, which studied the rates of biopsy and imaging after a mastectomy in breast cancer patients with the ultimate goal of conveying to patients that even after a mastectomy, the need for additional screening is not completely eliminated. Dr. Ahn's clinical practice focuses on benign breast disease, breast biopsy, breast cancer, breast surgical biopsy, lumpectomy, lymph node biopsy, mastectomy, and sentinel lymph node biopsy, among other conditions.
